It’s a long story which I won’t bother you with here. The short version is that I discovered myself in a successful career as a software engineer that wasn’t satisfying. I packed it in and went to art college for four years and graduated with Ba (hons) Fine Art in 2006.
I loved being an art student, the college years were some of the happiest of my life so far. While at college, I realised I didn’t want to become a professional artist. I loved making art to please my own curiosity and most of it pleased no one else. The thought of trying to make art to please others to sell to make a living fills me with dread. I make very little art these days but some of what I learnt still informs other projects.
